Wired Directive Series

I snapped my Capita at the end of last season, so I decided to try something new. I heard about Wired from listening to the FNrad podcast and I love that this is a snowboarder owned company. I have been riding it about 15 days now and we haven’t had much snow here so it has pretty much all been park riding. I have felt bulletproof on this thing and I feel like it is so responsive that I can do anything I want on it. Thank you for this beautiful thing, and may I say that you make the coolest graphics ever!!

I bought this board because of Angry Snowboarder’s feedback and then meeting Erik Traulsen (FN’RAD podcast) at my local hill .
The two Angry reviews for the Directive are spot on. I would say the torsional stiffness is a little above medium even after break in. The fit/finish was really on point and the edges were screaming sharp. It is one of those decks you have to see in person to appreciate the shape. The tips are longer than you might expect and the kick is spot on. It works really well in the heavy chop we have in southern California. The base glide is above average and it seems to have some light structure.
In terms of sizing I was between the 155 and 157. I wanted the tighter sidecut of the 55, but the extra width of the 57. My boots are 9.5US, but I run a 20.25” stance (setback 1”) so I need more girth under foot. I went with the 157 and it was a good decision for a daily driver. The longer tips, early rise, and shorter EE make it feel closer to a 155 on snow. The 8.2m sidecut can still make tight turns with some center flexing, but it doesn’t have the “divey” feel in deeper snow. Even though the overall flex is medium, it rides better with stiffer bindings that have a full size disc.
The Directive is a great all mountain freestyle twin. Not to mention it is literally half the price of other boards with the same features. I am really looking forward to trying a Canadian made Wired, especially the Recon.

Wanted to buy a softer flexing board, but not a noodle, so I settled on the Directive. Couldn't beat the clearance price on anything like it. Turns extremely well, handles a bunch of different snow conditions, and holds a nice edge. I started with the centered stance, but moved the bindings back one space to give a bit more nose in the front, and it's dialed for me. Mostly riding groomers and small park features.

Thought I'd give it a try after sifting through the nets. Definitely a good deal even there were some customs to pay sending it to Europe. Rides well and fast. Got the Directive and the Recon, which is definitely the stiffer of the 2. Directive is solid yet playful enough.

Can never go wrong with wired snowboards. The performance you get from these boards aee very comparable to other brands with much higher price tag. I'm excited what new boards this company will release in the future

Amazing board

Don’t sleep on buying a Wired Directive if going all over the mountain is your thing. I was able to use it at Mammoth and it was the perfect deck. Plowed through the typical mid day push piles, lays all kinds of carves, lots of pop and excelled on the upper steeps. I am 5’6” 175 riding 155.

Just received my Directive Series. Amazing quality out of the wrapper - base tune looks spot on. Will post an update once I get on it

First of all, I was impressed with the quality right out of the box. People bash on Chinese manufacturing, but I’ve definitely seen worse craftsmanship from other factories. From a brief inspection, this board appeared flawless.

As for the riding… This board powers through long drawn out carves and can do quick set up turns no problem.

Plenty of pop. The rocker in the tips creates sort of a pad that you can boost off.

Floats in powder very well. If you aren’t paying attention, it can dive a bit, but the leg burn for a camber dominant board was very minimal. Tight trees were a nonissue as well.

Durable so far. Hit a couple exposed tree roots and rock faces by accident and found no visible damage on the board. (Granted, slower speeds, but still)

It’s flexible enough to be playful, but the rubber dampening, urethane sidewalls, and stiffer feel under foot make it stable. I’ve had a couple questionable moments with choppy snow and the Directive just powered through.

I am thoroughly impressed and cannot wait to spend more time on this board.

Pair it with stiffer bindings though. My softer mid-flex bindings felt sloppy on it.

For reference, I am a fairly advanced rider. Side hits, blacks/double blacks, and can ride switch on most terrain. Did not get a chance to take it into the park yet, but it feels like it would do just fine.

I really couldn’t find anything to complain about. It’s well balanced and handled everything I threw at it. Absolutely would recommend 🤙🏻

Honestly can’t say enough good things about this company. Rob is doing a hell of a job with amazing products. After 3 seasons my board is still taking my abuse. If you are considering getting a wired deck just seriously do it. Seriously. I have like 10 boards from everyone and this is definitely one of my quiver killer type decks I always somehow go back to. But not in 3ft freshly pow pow

The last board I had was super stiff, so when I got this I was shocked. It has a lot of flex to it. and feels very playful the camber is nice but it was a bit of an adjustment to get used to. I use this board for everything, from personal trips to the mountains to teaching at my job. great board I definitely recommend it if you are on a bit of a budget or an intermediate.

Grew up learning to snowboard in the 2000's on stiff, full cambered, unforgiving boards. After coming back to the sport riding some hybrid rocker boards, I wanted to go back to a twin camber. This was like coming home. First day on it, it felt like something I'd been on 100 days before and immediately became my daily ride. It's forgiving enough to handle butters and jibs, and for me to finally learn to ride switch, but strong enough to handle charging, deep carves, and jumps. Holds an edge beautifully too. Exclusively rode it at a tiny hill in the Northeast US due to covid and straight out of the box it easily carved into a half inch of man made dust on top of bulletproof ice.

This is for sure the best snowboard I have ever rode.

She holds an edge at speed, is stiff enough to boost high ollies and stomp your landings, but still has the flex I need to butter the muffin or get jibby in the park.

The folks at wired hand-make each board with care and consideration for the style of snowboarding that you prefer, and Rob went above and beyond to make sure that my board was perfect before sending it out to me.

Most people will ride some random board of some random pro, with some random graphic. I get to ride a board built by my favourite pro, with graphics that I designed myself.

This is the best board I have ever owned. It handles perfectly and an awesome, all-rounded board that I’ve used in deep pow at Baker, Whistler, Manning and Big White as well as tearing laps and hitting up the parks at Cypress and Seymour.

Five stars is not enough justification, it handles perfectly in all conditions. My rad experience with Wired has led onto my new Vantage Series as I’m becoming more of a park rat. I’m sure this review will be similar based on other people’s results with these great boards.

Bought a custom directive series this year after getting a chase series last year.
Unfortunately, with the closures, haven't had a chance to ride it too much, but I loved every second.

The flex pattern is perfect and the chamber is just awesome. I have large feet and this board is wider than most which is a pleasure.

Above all though, working with Rob to design my board has been a pleasure. He is patient and helpful, and together we made a sick design which is mine and mine alone!

Highly recommended the board and the crew. If you have time to swing by the shop (once all this covid stuff is over) I highly recommend that too, seeing Rob and Peppe work is awesome.

6' tall 195lbs on a 159cm. Ridden it on local ice, groomers and rocky mountain hip deep pow. It performs in all conditions. It's the perfect all rounder. It's a classic 90's/00's board but with modern tech and shaping.

It has a bunch of super predictable pop like a proper camber board should and holds up to landing back seat off of a cliff and still powering through. I'm no jibber but it smashes trees just dandy.

Rides just fine on -20 boilerplate ice, it does have the sharpest factory edge I've ever seen but it's no magnetraction.

On groomers it's stiff enough to get elbow down on the toe and indy grabbin on the heel carves, flexible enough to butter around and press but not shoot you out if you lean too far into it, enough torsional flex to really steer it but not so much that you worry when coming into the lift line doing mach chicken and throwing up huge clouds.

In pow it really surprised me. I spent the first day on my tapered rocker pow board and the next day slaying tree lines on the Directive with a full centered stance...I almost felt guilty for having more fun on the twin! If you can keep your speed up it will float you out of damn near anything. Even in pow, feeling that camber flex and power through those huge blower turns was goooood.

Buy one. Buy one for the wife. Buy one for the kid.

If you don't have a Directive in your collection you are totally missing out! This thing is the most agile/nimble and playful board I have ever strapped to my feet.... and that's a lot of boards since 1986. Everything you want or need in a twin. I wish I had this thing back in the mid 90's. Honestly, I'm in my 40's now and this thing has me doing things that make my wife mad at me. It's a shame I can only give it 5 stars. Get one!

What ever you do in life always remember to do it with Style! This board was inspired by the beginning days and then re-worked with the latest innovation to handle all conditions, this is why this cambered Directive Series is for everyone. No matter what your style and what/where you ride you are guaranteed to ride good and look fucking amazing!! This board is old school, 93 till infinity!!

I grew up snowboarding in the 90’s so I have to have a twin board on hand wherever I go. And I expect a twin to handle all conditions with an emphasis on freestyle. I find these boards have an effortless edge hold with flawless transitions from heel to toe and toe to heel. My personal directive is soft enough for me to push around and still stuff enough to hold an edge at high speeds. As with everything I ride, I’m looking for something fun. And there’s nothing more fun that rocking a Directive on a day where there’s a perfectly groomed park and stashes of pow to be had. The quality ingredients make all the difference. It’s my go to board most days of the year. 10/10
